Bamboo Fence Styles To Use In Your Yard

Check out the different types of bamboo fencing that can be used to create many unique bamboo fence styles. Then choose the one that works best for you.

Bamboo is a wonderful natural product. It is often used in creating unique fences and decorative borders in a yard or patio area. There are a great many bamboo fence styles to choose from. What you choose depends on what type of fence you are looking to install. And maybe more importantly, what appeals to you.

You can’t beat bamboo fencing if you are trying to create a natural look to complement your existing landscaping. Bamboo works especially well if your goal is to create a privacy fence. This is at least partly because of the way bamboo can be used together with other types of fencing, as well as on its own.

Here are a few of the more popular bamboo fencing options to consider.

Rolled Bamboo Fencing
This is one of the most popular choices for fencing and there is a huge variety in styles and colors. Rolled bamboo fencing is strong and durable but must be supported on a framework of some kind. It is not rigid enough to be used on its own.

The frame can actually end up accenting the appearance of the rolls of bamboo. Each individual section of rolled bamboo will have its own unique appearance. This works great when creating a privacy fence or a secluded area in your yard.

Rolled bamboo can also be fit on top of an existing fence for an easy fix to refurbish an old fence. Just roll it out and attach to create affordable privacy fencing.

You can have a fence that has a lighter tan appearance, or one with more of an earth tone, or even a mahogany colored one, depending on the type of bamboo you choose.

Japanese Woven Bamboo Fence
A Japanese bamboo fence, with its appearance of small patterns within a larger area is often used to provide a focal point for a Japanese garden.

Woven bamboo fencing is not strictly a privacy fence. Instead it is installed in a way that suggests privacy but actually creates a sense of welcoming openness. For example, when woven sections are laid tightly together, there may be an opening left at the bottom of the fence.

Because of its unique appearance this type of fence often works best in smaller areas, rather than throughout an entire yard.

Stand Alone Bamboo Fences
Your imagination and creative instincts can go wild creating a design for a stand alone bamboo fence. This type of fence uses thicker, solid pieces of bamboo canes in creating a privacy fence. Even though the canes are solid and rigid, they need to be supported before installing.

All parts of the frame can be made out of bamboo, with the exception of the posts that will go into the ground as well as any parts of the fence that will butt up against the ground. These pieces must be made out of wood, rather than bamboo.

Once the frame has been made, you can add a layer of woven bamboo pieces or bamboo fence panels to finish off your design. Stand alone bamboo fencing is suitable for use anywhere in your yard.

The Misu Style Bamboo Fence
The Misu style fence is a traditional bamboo screen fencing. It is made of bamboo poles which run horizontally as slats. These slats are supported by broad posts run vertically on both sides of the fence. These posts are attached using dark ties.

A Misu bamboo fence makes a good privacy fence as it is solid in appearance and has no large gaps between the poles.

These are just a few of the many bamboo fence styles that you can use in your yard. You can’t really make a bad decision as far as choosing bamboo fencing if you are looking to create a unique and appealing outdoor area.
